Autumn Decorating Ideas
Autumn has arrived
Well, Summer has been and gone, leaving in its wake the advent of Autumn, and with that comes the signs we all know and love; falling leaves, darker evenings and cooler temps being just 3 of the most common signals that the year is drawing to a close.
Many people like to seasonally decorate, and Autumn lends itself perfectly to a whole host of comforting yet stylish interior decorating ideas.
Fall Leaves
Whether you choose to use real leaves or buy fabric ones in, fall foliage is a lovely theme for any room. The colours of Autumn are reflected so well by the leaves; reds, browns and deep greens all complement each other well, so garlands of leaves make great hanging decorations, or if you want to be more creative, make lovely embellishments to existing décor such as candle holders, photo frames and fireplaces.
Pinecones & Pumpkins
Continuing with the nature theme, pinecones and pumpkins both made for great Autumn décor, especially with Halloween coming next month! The orange and brown mix will go well with most types of existing colour scheme, from simple beiges and vanillas to funkier reds and golds. Pinecones will also typically last a good few months before they start to look shabby, but you’ll want to make sure any pumpkin displays aren’t kept out past their best!
Candles
With the coming of September also comes the darker evenings, and carefully placed candles make the most of the last light of the day whilst giving a gentle glow to sweep the evening in. Scented candles are a great idea if you still want to bring the outdoors in without keeping the doors and windows open – fragrances such as pumpkin spice, musk and autumn fruits are all nice scents to go for, and remind us that seasonal change is on its way!
Snuggly Blankets
If you still want to sit outdoors but can feel the nip in the air, then a snuggly blanket is the way to go! If you don’t already have one, or want a separate one for outdoors, then something warm, soft and thick is a good option – and if you’re keeping to the autumn colour theme, then look for it in browns, reds or oranges to theme in with nature’s colours of the moment!
Of course, it’s not only outdoors where a nice blanket is welcome – indoors on the sofa watching a movie is also a great time to snuggle up!
